VOLTA Basel 2023

Silvia Strobos
"My main theme is encounters. My works show the different ways in which people are connected. My paintings are full and structured at the same time, as if I am trying to organize human interaction. My works show crowds but emphasize personal contact between a few. The use of plexiglass overlays the social structures, giving them more depth and thus emphasizing the personal encounters in the foreground. My clear message is that in a world of algorithms, hashtags and followers, we should not forget the importance of real ones human interaction is."

Silvia Salvagno
"In a world full of noise, I would like to make a proposal, an invitation to be still while embracing the idea of fragility and impermanence. There is beauty and peace to be found there. I suggest you focus on the empty ones Letting spaces and colors in, which can be soft and diffuse, but also present and bold.Everything from the composition to the colors and the technique in this series is an invitation to stop and reflect, to contemplate and to go back to the essentials."
